During this year’s Black Entertainment & Sports Lawyers Association (BESLA) Mid-Year Conference, Kimberley Harris, EVP & General Counsel at NBCUniversal, received the BESLA Beacon of Industry Award for her contributions to the entertainment and sports legal industry.
“It was truly an honor to receive the Beacon of Industry Award from BESLA,” said Harris. “Behind every leader is a great team, and I am very proud of the incredible talent and diversity we have within the legal function at NBCU.”
As NBCUniversal’s General Counsel, Harris provides legal advice to the senior management team and supervises the Law Department, which handles legal matters for all of NBCUniversal’s business units. She also leads NBCUniversal’s global regulatory and legislative agenda. In addition to her work at NBCUniversal, Harris serves on the Board of Directors for Advocates for Children of New York and the Board of Advisors for the Yale Law School Center for the Study of Corporate Law.
Selected by a committee of industry executives and influencers, the BESLA Beacon of Industry Award identifies individuals who have exhibited a track record of significant contributions to the legal profession and created a talent pipeline for rising legal professionals.
Her growing list of achievements also include being honored by the National Organization for Women for the Women of Power & Influence Awards and the Legacy Award from the Brennan Center for Justice for her work on criminal justice reform in the White House.
“Ms. Harris’s commitment to diversity at NBCUniversal is truly outstanding,” noted Lawrence Hinkle, President of BESLA. “We also recognize her stellar legal career and contributions to the community. We are proud to honor her with the BESLA Beacon of Industry Award.”
BESLA continues to advance the excellence of professionals in the entertainment, sports and related industries. By offering an annual program of activities and access to key industry influencers, BESLA empowers a network of more than 2,000 lawyers and professionals.
